The job itself seems to play pretty straightforwardly. The tool tips, on the other hand, are some of the worst I've seen in game so far. They just seem so confusing. It's probably just my terrible reading comprehension and the fact I was reading them tired as heck from staying up late just to play at launch. But I was reading all the Viper skills and just sort of had a bank stare, like wtf am I reading right now.

Every single expansion this happens. No point to buy early access.

Sorry for the noob question, but why would we use Dread Maul, when Dreadwinder does the same (give noxious Nash) but deals much more damage? But the time we need to reapply, Dreadwinder will be off cool down to cast again…

Easy rule for DPS - stick to the a$$ end of the target whenever possible. Never hurts and you're always in the right spot for any flank/rear hit. (And True North is your friend if you know you're out of position - but better to try and stay in the rear.) 😉🙃

Met a Picto in a Dungeon, he showed me his Pom Motif so I showed him my Hammer Stamp...we then did some Polishing Hammer and the whole thing was a Rainbow Drip...told him to go easy on the Fanged Muse and by the end of it all we were both covered Holy in White...😂🎉😅

As a "Healer Main", I agree. Pressing 1 all day is just... Not fun. Near the end of my EW days I found myself playing Healer less and less, and thus far in DT I've only used SGE to take turns getting quick queues with a buddy. PCT probably influenced that though, as it is actually FUN to play. The "Healer Strike" overall IMO is pretty dumb, but they make some points. Healers aren't unnecessary, they just have nothing to do but press 1 and their Healing buttons. You not seeing SCH press their other buttons is kinda sad. Those sorta people complaining can hush, since they are already not pressing all their buttons. Sure, it's just more healing buttons, but pressing more buttons is infinitely better than pressing ONE button. I wouldn't be surprised if I end up shifting from a Healer Main to something else, while only having Healer/Tank when one is necessary. Might be different when actually progging, but we'll see.

Nice guide! If I can offer one suggestion, consider referring to the combos as A-B-C rather than 1-2-3. Since you're already using 1 and 2 to refer to the button/action.

In all honesty i think that all the people who are striking you too cole need to show how you want to have a job changed yeah the dot could've stayed but it isn't realy that impactful im a healer main myself and ultimate raider at that and i realy liked old astro and scholar but dont mind current ones but if some people have a problem with current healers moning and complaining achives nothing talk to eachother and decide on changes make a yt vid and just spread it not just aaa man healer bad yoshi fix you clearly dont like healers and all that (sorry for the wall of text im just flustrated with everyone that make this kind of videos also sorry for bad english not my primary language ^_^)

I will keep this 100; I think that the reason for the healerstrike is good, even though there isn't really a way to implement it the reason for that is because other people in the community that mains other jobs are seeing it as healers being cry babies and thus saying they will just lvl their healers as the job is not that difficult and anyone can play it, they do not see the issue cause they do not play healer; WAR mains in numerous comments for instance said if they nerf WAR they will go on strike sad part is more people seem to agree with them than the healer's complaints. secondly healers are needed however the current community and in my eyes that is on them is basically finding every way to prove healers are obsolete with some even saying they knew it would cause backlash. in my opinion I believe square should nerf some tank healing skills and focus them more on mitigation so the trinity can be re-established, but Yoshi-P stating that he wants to look at jobs and then releasing a Expac with the very first skill obtainable by WAR being a heal just feels a bit tone-deaf. why give healer more healing skills then; currently most healers don't even use most of their kit because it is obsolete when you have a WAR; on PLD they use a bit more use but the only tanks that fully need a healer is DRK in some cases and GNB I believe is the only one without full active healing. so to conclude I think the community should stop trying to prove healers are obsolete as it does not help the situation; Yoshi-p should put his money where his mouth is and not say he will do something when the skills released shows opposite and lastly I don't necessarily agree 100% with the dps but I understand it I feel they can rather give us more utility on the skill in the sense of assize that heals and damages more skills like that would be fun

I really like the 3 actions 1 button setup. One of my biggest complaints about FFXIV is the huge number of buttons. I swear that SE is generating crypto somewhere based on the number of buttons clicked!

The two main classes are super meh for me. Bring on the beastmaster now THAT sounds like an amazing and fun class.

I hate both new jobs. Viper has boring skills that all look the same and pictomancer is WAY WAAAAAAAAAAY WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too complicated. I give up on ever getting a simple caster and just have to give up on ever playing a magic dps in ff14 other than BLM for magdps quests. Bring on the next ranged phy dps already.

How do i get my 'easels' to cast the ability like your does, when i click on them like that?

During combat when theres a boss and a phase change isnt comming up the the weapon or monster paints are comming off cooldown, when is it optimal to repaint pictures? Whens a good filler time rather cause im struggling with that info.

The skills are quite easy to grasp. -single combo, multi combo -RGB bar + high single combo/ high multi combo -holy holy holy holy holy if you are dodging mechanic, comet (oh it's lv 90 skill) -prep drawing > activate > activate 2. Can be something like this Shift+2 prep landscape, Shift+3 activate landscape ctrl+2 prep weapon, ctrl+3 activate weapon, ctrl+4 hit with weapon 2, prep pom, 3 activate pom, 2 prep wings, 3 activate wings, 4 moogle beam 1, single target, ctrl+1 holy, shift+1 comet. The rest I put it on mouse, I'm using Logitech G300s, so have 6 buttons on mouse for RGB bar activate + rgb single / rgb multi. and normal multi. also dash and swiftcast. I think the prob will be "when" to do prep drawing. -in dungeon, can do it in between mobs. -for bosses, before pull, and when down time. -the recast time is like 4seconds. you can swiftcast it but still 4 seconds before you can cast other thing. probably can use it to swiftcast, have 4 seconds to do mechanics. and activate the painting. But yeah, it'll be even better when you know the boss' timing.

Holy in White is a separate button from Comet in Black because Holy is meant to be used for "OH SHIT I NEED TO DODGE THAT MECHANIC" and you want to keep your GCDs rolling.

Playing with Picto at first, I couldn't really figure out how to structure the rotation at first relative to how other jobs are played... But then I finally managed to simplify it after getting used to the long cast times. The "Moogle buttons" are oGCD charges that hit hard - so keep it from capping, and try to otherwise save it for raid buffs. The "Hammer button" is your odd-minute burst. Use it on cooldown. The "shooting stars" button is obviously your 2-minute. Use it on cooldown, line up with party/raid buffs. All 3 buttons come with the caveat of needing to be prepared in advance by "painting" - don't wait to get the canvas painted or else your cooldowns drift. So "painting" is as much filler as your basic 1-2-3. You don't ever want to realize "Oh crap I need to paint the canvas" during the raid buff window. White Paint shouldn't be spammed, but it also hits for less than the CMYK buttons. Save it for when movement is needed or when you're about to overcap, but otherwise save it for turning into Black Paint (to use during raid buffs) CMYK combo *(Anybody else notice the Y and M are BACKWARDS in the combo?!)* shouldn't be spammed, but you also don't want to cap it. Only use it if it's about to cap or you're in raid buff window.

I'm only Lvl89, but PCT buttons really LOOK more daunting than it actually is. It follows the standard "Keep abilities on CD" strategy, so even if you are in battle, taking a few seconds to paint is WELL worth it for the damage (Mog of Ages is 1300 potency!). I found Quickcast nice for "Oh crap, Mog of Ages is about to go off CD and I don't have the Motif up", since Living Muse and Mog of Ages are both oGCD. That's just a skill issue though, I need to watch the CDs and plan better. Popping Holy/Comet before an oGCD is also nice, but also standard rotation stuff. Obv you don't wanna cap on it though. Otherwise, do RGB/CYM stuff. Of course, when other skills get mixed into it that may screw up my rotation a bit, but we'll figure that out when we get there. Overall, I've found PCT to be a LOT of fun. Definitely going to be playing it a bunch, especially through Dawntrail. Also, I'm definitely calling it the Pride Gauge from now on.
